  A Slight Smell of Bleach is a Small Price to Pay for Clean Air Everyday. In response to ongoing Global Covid-19 situation, in January 2021 our electricians, Ask Mr. Jones installed a Sterillo Uno Air Sterilizer in the shared kitchen at The Regent Offices and Business Centre. We have been using Sterillo Units in the Lavatories since 2013 when the offices opened, and they have proved one of my best decisions. I homed in on the kitchen area however as this is where historically people tended to congregate. Although it is not a 'fully functioning kitchen', smells from a microwave and bits left in the sink can linger causing nasty whiffs if not immediately cleaned. And with all the best will in the world, surfaces can become unhygienic in the blink of an eye. Especially as there is little air circulation in this room, then something needed to be done. Knowing that the Sterillo Uno is proven to kill germs lingering in the air, as well as deal with odour-control, it was the perfect solution for the environment where nasty bacteria need to be controlled. Using proven room sanitizing technology (UV Light), the Sterillo Uno is a silent killer, it kills germs and harmful bacteria in the air, eradicating nasty smells and malodors in the process without any noise or fuss. Gone are all sorts of germs, causes of mould build-up and bacteria that can be transmitted into the air. The product has been in the Kitchenette for a year now and has proved its worth. Due to the 'UV Light' technology there is a bleach smell in the air, however in my opinion it is a small price clean air! You may be wondering whether the unit really does kill viruses? Does the Sterillo UNO kill viruses? In laboratory tests carried out by PHE (Public Health England)*, the Sterillo removed over 99% of one of the germs tested. Germicidal UVC light (254.7nm) is proven to stop all viruses (including Coronavirus’) replicating and therefore spreading. By destroying the section of DNA responsible for its replication – the virus is no longer able to infect or spread. The Sterillo concept is truly innovative and unique thanks to patented technology and affords you a clean space with germs and bacteria gone. Larger than life Yorkshire man, Ady Clegg restores carved wooden Artwork at Wrexham Offices. A larger than life, Yorkshire man has transformed the wooden bench and external Wall Art originally carved by Simon O'Rourke Tree Carving in 2013 that was looking very tired. The bench looked beyond repair after 6 years of no maintenance and the battering of fierce winds and rain. You can see what state the bench was in; the wall sign wasn't any better.
Thankfully our handy restoration man, Adrian has brought both the sign and bench back from the brink by carefully sanding down, filling, painting, and varnishing to bring out the best in pieces.  Now our clients can quite happily sit in the sun trap at the back of the offices enjoying their lunch and tea breaks without fear of getting splinters on their bottoms! Leighton Cox is the face (and hair) behind cursoncamera.com and has a rapidly growing YouTube Channel for camera aficionados. Broadcasting weekly on his channel, Leighton has over 10 years’ experience in the industry. With his skills he’s created content and footage for the likes of Amazon Prime Originals, Booking.com, Red Bull and This Girl Can to name a few. More locally he’s one of the brains behind Wrexham TV, but that could be a vicious rumour, we’ll see. We have a suspicion that we’ll be seeing more of Wrexham TV soon.
Interestingly, Leighton is only two doors away from our resident newshounds, Wrexham.com. So, keep an eye out for exciting camera collaborations on Wrexham.com and further afield. Regent Street in Wrexham has proved a positive move for Pertemps Wrexham. Last Friday morning we handed the key over to another office suite at The Regent, Wrexham. Pertemps Wrexham has expanded steadily under Branch Manager, John Stubbs, since he took over. To me, it seems only a few months back that Pertemps moved into their ground floor offices, yet it was two years ago in December 2014 that Pertemps took over the conference space at 67 Regent Street, relocating from 40 Regent Street. Since then, the number of recruitment specialist staff at the branch has doubled. Due to their expansion, they’ve been looking for some extra space in the building, so when Mercury Promotions moved offices, it was an opportunity not to be missed. Isn't that a strange name for a property business? Here's the true story.... Many people wonder what’s the name Ebenezer all about? I’m here to blow the lid off the mystery.  We all know that a name is important and for a child there is nothing worse than having a name that is open to finger pointing and mocking. Historically names had a meaning that was either a desire, proclamation or something to reflect the feelings of the parents at that time. In the same way a name for a business is just as important, after all it’s like a child that we nurture and help grow
The name Ebenezer doesn’t come from the love of Charles Dickens or as a celebration of Ebenezer Scrooge. Rather it is inspired by a little chapel in the countryside, an ‘Ebenezer Chapel’. The chapel was built at the time when there were more chapels than pubs in Wales, and the word Ebenezer comes from a story in the Bible where the prophet Samuel erected a stone as a monument to commemorate help from God as recorded in (Samuel 7:12-14). It reads, “Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, [a] saying, “Thus far has helped us.”. Ebenezer was adopted as a commemorative word and thanks for God’s help. In summary, the fictitious character Ebenezer Scrooge, who was transformed in Dicken’s ‘Christmas Carol’, lies under a stone in a dark grave, whereas the real Ebenezer is a stone proclaiming the goodness of God and stands firmly above the ground. Until next time Joanna x Just the Business - A Big Green Smile Shines for Wrexham Micro Generators the Regent Offices in Wrexham.  Our green energy plan has finally come to fruition. After months of demanding work, paperwork, investment and just a little waiting I finally managed to get an updated EPC (Energy Performance Certificate).
When we bought the building back in November 2012, the EPC rating as a mere G. We’ve now achieved a B (42) rating, a massive leap from the previous G, without spoiling any of the original Edwardian character, and in early 2014 voltage optimization was added to reduce our consumption even further. The certification demonstrates our desire to turn the building from an uncomfortable fridge into a cozy and comfortable ‘space to thrive’ was achieved. We did the following:
Initially, there is a lot of investment, but it is well worthwhile. The EPC is a requirement for prospective office tenants and a prerequisite for a FIT (Feed in Tariff) application. As a micro-generator of renewable energy through our solar panels, we now don’t need to buy so much electricity in. We are also contracted to buy in any surplus we need from Good Energy, a proactively renewable supplier. Smiles all around! Joanna x Creating a sense of place at the Regent Street Offices - #SpaceToThrive inside and outside. Time has flown since my last post and I’m very pleased to say we’re making great strides in completing a fabulous resource for Wrexham. The recent welcomed sunshine has really helped us with the concrete bases for the ‘Parlour’ and the ‘Snug’. Graham, of Gravitas Commercial has been looking after his setting concrete like an expectant parent, staying on very late – just in case. Meanwhile, the first fixes are well under-way and ceilings repaired and preserved where possible. Off site, I’ve placed an order with renewable energy company Dulas for some spectacular integrated Solar PV panels to cover one of the roofs. As you’ll see from my tweets I’ve been darting here and there, looking at all sorts of fixtures and fittings to get the right look and feel for the space both inside and out. Looking at the outside, I’ve commissioned Simon O’Rourke Tree Carving to make a carved piece of wall art for the patio area. The design below is based on the branding by Mako Creative and will be in either redwood or sweet chestnut with the dark R extruded from the surface, and the tail of it along with the words, ‘space to thrive’ recessed. I can’t wait to post a picture of the finished work of art, I hope you like Simon’s sketch.  To compliment the artwork, I’ve also commissioned a bench for the same area. The idea is to give somewhere distinctive and comfortable to sit (a little bit of countryside in the town).
